We were planning on taking a little money from our income tax refund windfall to maybe take a cruise during our Fall Break next October.
Gerald decides to go over the books one more time to make sure that our finances are in order and, lo and behold, the little xtra we were going to have left over had disappeared, POOF!
He calls me, "Where did it all go?"
"I don't know; maybe eye doctor visits for all the kids?"
"Maybe all the field trips we didn't expect this year."
"Possibly all the shoes and sport's fees we put out this year."
"Did we buy that many shoes?"
"Uh...."
These are all the kids' sport's shoes that we have bought this year...so far.
We still have two pair of track shoes to buy this week for Anna & Jake, our Sports-A-Holics.
Now, we buy them as cheap as we can get away with, without sacrificing too much quality because we don't want our kids' feet to curl up and fall off.
Figure around $25-30/pair times twelve pairs (Molly's soccer shoes are missing) and we spent a rough estimate of.....calculating.....
$300-360! Oh, my goodness, I didn't even think it would be that much.
WOW!
Our Athletes
Zac, "Porter Supporter"
Drew, "The Three Point Threat"
Molly, "Number 25"
Jake, "Basketball Ballerina"
Anna, "The Blur"

Look at Anna! She looks so cute!
But someone should tell her that volleyball is WAY cooler than softball and since they're in the same season she should just stick to volleyball.
As for tax returns?? We're getting a pretty big one this year...about $3000. Cruise? Trip to Aruba? Flight to California? Heck no! - every dime will be spent paying off medical bills from my gall bladder surgery. The insurance deductible at the school here is less than stellar to say the least.
*sigh* maybe next year.
I think Anna has determined that VB is better b/c you just don't sit in that pose she's in all night long to no avail.
She got her hair all cut off a few weeks ago hence that picture is sooo last year.
amy, didn't realize all the kids were in sports. we are just getting started with ava. we put her in a basketball fundamentals class. hopefully she will enjoy it.
Mark & Shellie-
Mom told us about the "Ava Incident" at BVAC and that you pulled her and put her into a fundamentals league in B.S.--that's probably more her speed right now.
The league Drew is in is run by the church. It's called Upwards and is an outreach ministry through churches, nationwide. We've never had our kids in this league but its pretty good.
For $50 you get an undershirt, jersey and shorts, plus a magnet to put on your car that says, "Upwards." I like it, they put different color wristbands on each kid and they stick w/the kid on the other team that has the same color wristband. They cannot double team, foul, etc. It's Drew's speed but wouldn't have worked for Jake. I imagine Sam will be more like Jake from what I know of him so far :)
Our church offers Upwards sports in Bball, Soccer, Flag Football and Cheerleading. So far, we've only done Bball.
The only thing about it is during 1/2-time they have a devotional for the parents, since it's a ministry. Ours was sort of cheesy, I always had to use the restroom during that time but if you have some pretty good people in there, it's probably not so bad.
Well, apparently I've written another email.
Miss you guys--tell the kids "HI!"
Ha! I just realized that I should probably expound on the "fundamentals league in B.S." for some who are not from K.C.
B.S. stands for a suburb of K.C.--Blue Springs.
